How to forward email as an attachment in Gmail
Gmail is the most popular web email service, and it includes a lot of innovative features. Forwarding email as an attachment, unfortunately, isn't one of them. We need to use a little trick, to get what we want.
With the email open, we click on "show original"...
...select "Save page as"...
...write a name with a .eml extension, and make sure we select "All Files" as a "Save as type".
If we did it right, the file will have a type "Microsoft Email Message".
Then, we can attach this to an email, to forward it as an attachment.
How to forward email as an attachment in Outlook.com
Similarly to Gmail, we first need to save the email in Outlook.com as a .eml file, to forward it.
We click on "View message source"...
...then select all the text with Ctrl+A and copy it.
Saving the page won't work in Outlook.com. Instead, we open notepad...
...paste the text and save the file with a .eml extension, with "Save as type: All Files".
How to forward email as an attachment in Yahoo Mail
Yahoo mail neither has a setting to forward an email as an attachment, nor it can show us the original code so we can create a .eml file.
What we can do is select the "View Full Header" option...
Select all the text with Ctrl+A, copy it...
...and then forward the message inline and paste the full header at the beginning of the message. This will work for services such as SpamCop.
How to forward email as an attachment in Thunderbird
As it turns out, email clients are much better at forwarding an email as an attachment.
In Mozilla Thunderbird, we just need to right-click next to the Inbox tab, and select "Menu Bar".
After that, we select Message -> Forward As -> Attachment.
Simple as that.
How to forward email as an attachment in Outlook 2013
If might have been relatively straightforward to forward email as an attachment in Thunderbird, but Outlook 2013 is the undisputed champion.
At the respond box, we just need to click More -> Forward as Attachment.
Simplicity itself.
